Description

At the designated time, we'll meet next to the Dom Dinis Statue as we embark on a guided tour of the University of Coimbra, one of Portugal's oldest educational institutions.

Our journey begins with a visit to the Paço das Escolas, a royal palace that has housed the university faculties since 1537. This architectural complex, featuring the impressive University Tower, showcases intricate details and historical significance.

Inside the university, we'll explore the renowned Sala dos Capelos, the main hall where prestigious academic ceremonies take place. As we walk through its corridors, we'll share intriguing stories that have unfolded within these walls.

We'll also delve into the university's notable alumni and have the privilege of entering the magnificent Joanina Library. With its captivating baroque aesthetics, this library is hailed as one of the world's most beautiful.

No tour of the University of Coimbra is complete without a visit to the Chapel of St. Michael. Dating back to the sixteenth century, this chapel holds a special place in the hearts of the brotherhood of Professors and Students.

After an enriching hour and a half of exploration, we will bid farewell to the university, concluding our tour with a sense of awe and appreciation for its rich history.
